How to Become a Christian

If you are reading this essay, then I must congratulate you. You have taken the first step towards enriching your life.

You must choose Jesus as your personal Savior because mere good deeds will not impress your Creator - they are done with the selfish intent on bringing oneself to eternal bliss without the intervention of the Creator. Without faith, one cannot please God. Think. God is in Heaven. Your every action in Heaven will be to glorify Him, for all eternity. If you don't love God, then you won't get any joy from being in Heaven. You need to express your love for Jesus NOW while you still have time.

No amount of good deeds will avail you on Judgment Day if you never loved God enough to accept what Jesus did for you on the cross. You could be the Pope and still go to Hell, because you did not take advantage of God's mercy. If you do not love God, you will not WANT to go to Heaven. You will choose to be separated from Him for all eternity. That's not pleasant at all, believe me.

Without faith in Jesus Christ, you are still a sinner, but whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13).

For you to get into Heaven, you must first repent of your sinful nature, then believe that Jesus was real, was crucified to pay the penalty in His blood for the sinful nature you were born with, and then rose from the dead. Then you must say that aloud to God (Romans 10:9-10). Just speak the Word that was implanted in your heart just now, and you will be cleansed of your old sinful nature and adopt Christ's righteous nature. Ask Jesus right now to come into your heart and promise to dedicate your life to Him. Thank God that you are a new creation because He has saved you.

Say this prayer with me now:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that you died for me on the cross and rose from the grave. I make you my Lord today. I give you my life. Come and live inside my heart. I will love you and serve you all the days of my life.

It's not really that hard to change your life around (Matthew 11:29-30). You can do anything through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13) and all things are possible with God.

Most people, upon being Born Again, feel overwhelming relief. If you do not feel this, do not despair. The Word says that you have been Saved. Believe what the Word says. The devil will try to make you think that you have not been Saved and will do whatever is in his power to immediately make you recant of your profession of faith. Ignore the doubts and plow on through.

You are now a warrior in Christ's army. To strengthen yourself, you should read your Bible regularly and meditate on the Word as much as you can. You should attend a Full Gospel or Pentecostal church to associate yourself with other Christians. While the memory of your salvation is still fresh in your mind, tell all your friends about how wonderful Jesus is. Don't let it bother you if they don't accept Jesus – most people won't. Finally, you should get baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Please refer to the bibliography for more in-depth reading. Also, please read my essay on the Holy Spirit because you need His power and discipline.

If this website has influenced your decision to become a Christian, please e-mail me and let me know your success story. I will be keeping a record of anecdotes from novice Christians on this site, to help others make their own decision to choose Jesus.

Love you. God Bless.
