I Dare to Follow My Dream

I am writing this essay to explain, once and for all, why I believe wanting to be a dragon does not interfere with my belief in Jesus. Hopefully, some of my Christian friends will understand how I feel and support me in my venture.

The traditional dragon image is that of a fire-breathing and noxious reptile of indeterminate phylogeny associated with magick and the devil. Revelation 12:9 identifies the dragon with the serpent in the Garden of Eden. This at least explains the anomalous snake scutes on the bellies of most dragons. It was suggested in one book (The Disc and the Dragon) that the sea serpents seen in the oceans and deep lakes are demonic in origin and the source of the dragon legend. Dragons in most tales are inseparable from magic; they both use magic spells and are slain for magic spells. Even Oriental dragons are poisoned by a large dose of magick.

That is not the type of dragon I wish to be. Read the Anatomy link and see how my proposed dragon body will differ from the traditional dragon's.

I happen to love reptiles. Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated with lizards and other scaly creatures and found them less treacherous and more beautiful than human beings. Mostly I saw humans as aggressive, destructive, and cruel, and the human body is so unlike any other animal's that I felt disconnected from the nature I wanted to protect.

I've been thoroughly abused - verbally, physically, and sexually - for over 28 years by my own species. I feel I have a right to divorce myself from the human race. Reptiles have never hurt me intentionally. I think I'd rather identify myself with a reptile than a human because I don't trust humans. I'll never have a loving relationship with a woman because I'll be impassionately terrified of her.

Also, I grow tired of preaching to uranium pellets about the wonderful life in Christ. You want proof of Christ's existence and power? I'll give you proof. All you have to do is give me the time.

God made me an intellectual giant, a spiritual explorer, and an inspired artist. I intend to fully use my mind and my spirit to further God's kingdom. I have a brain, so why should I copy the same old miracles in the Bible that everyone else does? No, I have a better plan!

I want God to do something new for Christianity. Are healings and calling fiery hail down from heaven all that He can do? Thank goodness, no! He would be a boring God indeed! Besides, that's kids' stuff. I want God to perform a miracle that will continually astound people, something that only God can do. I want God to change this awful human body into a beautiful dragon so that people will experience the miraculous every day of their lives.

When God changes me into a dragon, people from all walks of life will admire me and listen to what I have to say for once in my life. Nobody wants to listen to a scared little boy with glasses, but everyone likes dragons. I'll give them a good reason to accept Jesus. They'll get to meet REAL dragons in Heaven, not the make-believe ones in fairy tales that will never be able to interact with them. Jesus will prove to them, through me, that He can satisfy anyone.

Why should satan have a copyright on the dragon image? I'll fight it in a bloody court of law if I have to. The dragon image is PUBLIC DOMAIN and as such I can claim the right to my own interpretation on it. I will be the real dragon, not satan. Satan is just a miserable fallen angel and I will not let that insignificant jerk steal my dreams.

Love you.  God Bless.
