Frequently Asked Questions About God!
Q: Why do I need God? I'm quite capable of caring for myself.
A: Perhaps that's all you care about. Explain to me where your
superhuman strength comes from, because six billion other people would
like to live without calamity like you do. I can tell you are one of
those self-centered people who like to trod upon the helpless.
Get this through your thick skull right now... nobody is immune to
tragedy, especially not you. Someday you'll realize that material
things are worthless compared to your character, and your own powers
aren't enough to redeem yourself from the pit you fell into.
Don't deny that you need God. Your own wily schemes and inner strength
are foolishness. You need God's strength to prevail over the disasters
the devil throws at you. Don't believe me? Here's a scripture. "For all
have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)
Are you really that foolish that you think you can survive without God
to protect you? Is your pride so overbearing that you think you can be
your own god? Who has deceived you?
Q: Is God vicious? He must be because He condemns sinners to everlasting fire.
A: No, God is NOT vicious. He is perfectly holy and perfectly just.
These divine character attributes mean that He is forced to punish all
sin, regardless of the seriousness that human beings apply to them. All
sin is a decision to choose one's own alternatives over God's wisdom.
God cannot stand even the tiniest sin in His Presence. There is only one punishment for sin - the eternal fire of Hell.
However, God is also perfectly merciful - so merciful, in fact, that He
gave His son Jesus as a sacrifice to obliterate our sins and make us
righteous and sinless in His sight. All you have to do is accept what
Jesus did for you and serve Him, and God will overlook your
shortcomings and spare you the punishment intended for the devil and
his demons. God never intended for humans to go to Hell, but if they
choose to reject His love, He has no recourse but to give them what
they want - eternal separation from Him.
This gift of eternal life in the presence of God is free for the
taking, but if you don't take advantage of it now, it will be too late
after you die. You only have one chance to live for God. There is no
reincarnation.

Q: Why does God allow evil in the world?
A: Good question. God Himself did not create the world to be evil.
"Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very
good." (Genesis 1:31a)
However, God created satan, though not originally with the intent to
release a destructive monstrosity into His creation. Satan was created
to be the lord of the earth (Ezekiel 28:12-14), but his stratospheric
pride caused him rebel against God (Ezekiel 28:14, Ezekiel 28:17-18,
Isaiah 14:13-14). Satan wanted God's position as deity so he could
receive the praises of the other created beings. This was the beginning
of perversity. God couldn't allow satan to steal worship and debase His
creation, so He cast him out of heaven.
God then created human beings to replace satan as lords of the earth
(Genesis 2:7,15). Satan wanted his power back, so he stole it from man
by tricking him into sinning against God (Genesis 3:1-7). By sinning,
man came under satan's dominion, and man's power passed to satan. With
this power, satan was able to mess up the world and make it the hostile
place it is today.
But fear not. Jesus will return to the earth soon, and He will return
everything to its divinely appointed state as it was at the dawn of
creation. (Isaiah 11:6-10)
For now, though, God allows evil to exist so that we may know what
results from rebellion against God, and how hurtful iniquity can be, so
that we may respect God's wisdom.
Jesus understands your pain, and He doesn't wish hurtful things to
happen to you. Be angry at the devil, because he hates you for being
the image of God. (Genesis 1:26)
Q: I don't understand the concept of the Trinity.
A: You're not alone. I'm not sure anyone does. But it is a fact that
God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one (John 1:1-5, Matthew 28:18-19).
The purpose of God being three separate yet unified entities is to
embody the nature of love into His own nature. Think of it this way...
if marriage (or sexual intercourse) makes a man and woman one flesh
(Mark 10:6-8), then the Trinity is sort of like a marriage of three
spirits.
Also, man is a three-part being, just like God is... spirit, mind, and
body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). So if a man can exist as a three-part
being, then its not impossible for God to be composed of three spirits.
Its not easy to understand, but God doesn't require you to understand this concept - only to believe it.
Q: Why did God tell the Jews to slaughter all
those tribes in the land of Canaan? Doesn't that make Yahweh a
bloodthirsty deity?
A: No, that doesn't make God a bloodthirsty deity. The tribes you speak
of - the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and
Jebusites, joined with the Amelekites and Moabites - were evil
societies. Not only did they refuse to worship God, they also practiced
sorcery and human sacrifice. God, being perfectly holy and just, was
required to erase those tribes both to punish their sins and to protect
the nation of Israel from spiritual contamination. If the Israelites
were to adopt the culture of those peoples, then Israel would be
rendered ineligible to bring forth the Messiah, for the culture would
then not be ready to receive Him.
It is wrong to kill, but that is because we don't have ownership of
other human beings. Only God does. God reserves the legal right to
execute rebellious humans to protect society. God could have simply
smote these peoples with plagues, but He decided to use the nation of
Israel, blessed with its many soldiers, to wipe out the memory of the
Canaanites and their neighbors.
Now, you must understand that if there were any good Amorites,
Canaanites, etc, God would not kill them. Concerning Sodom and
Gomorrah, for example, the perfectly just Yahweh would not strike down
those two cities until He made sure that there were no good people left
in them. Abraham knew God was perfectly just and reminded Him to spare
the cities if He found at least ten good people left there. But God's
will to smite Sodom and Gomorrah would not be altered - God satisfied
both His holiness and mercifulness by sending two angels into Sodom to
lead out those who were righteous (Genesis 19:1-25). To be fair, God
would allowed the good people of those doomed races to escape the
slaughter.
Concerning the children that were killed, remember that God has the
sole right to take life. Every human being is born in sin, and to
prevent the children from being corrupted further by their evil culture
as they matured and their elders' wickedness twisted their tormented
minds, God ordered them killed. This was not an act of brutality, but
mercy. Isaiah 7:16 says that children who die before the age of moral
accountability don't go to hell. There's plenty of scripture that
indicates that innocent young children are allowed to enter Heaven
freely.
More evidence of God's fairness: the harlot, Rahab, who lived in
Jericho, hid two Israelite spies and they promised to spare her and her
family in return for her kindness (Joshua 2:1-21). The Israelites kept
their oath and let Rahab and her family go free (Joshua 6:22-23). The
Hivites of Gibeon tricked Joshua into swearing to spare their lives,
and rather than kill them for their deceit, Joshua ordered that no
Israelite be allowed to kill them, and he employed them as laborers
(Joshua 9:1-27).
A satanist once challenged me by saying that Psalm 137:8-9 proves that
God likes to kill children. The accusation is totally inane. She should
have spent her time reading the first seven verses instead of writhing
naked on her altar. These verses she quoted refer to Babylon's
punishment. Babylon, a brutal nation, was in turn conquered by the
Persians and Medes, another warlike people. It is these Iranians to
whom the ninth verse refers. It is they who take delight in "dash(ing)
(Babylonian) children against the rock". God merely used the Persians
and Medes as an instrument of His judgment against Babylon for their
mistreatment of the Jews; He did not condone enjoyment of that
slaughter.
Q: A perfectly loving God would not punish sinners eternally in Hell, would He?
A: Sadly, yes, He would. If you insist on defying God throughout your
life, He has no other option but to consign you to the lake of fire
with the devil and his rebel angels. Hell has two kinds of torment:
spiritual pain caused by separation from God and the realization of
one's failure, and the pain of fire itself. Interestingly, Hell is
referred to as a lake of fire, which brings to mind the image of molten
lava, which really is a kind of fire that never stops burning.
God will respect a man's choice to detest Him, and He will give him
what he wants - eternal separation from Him. The purpose of all the
broiling magma is to bring to reality the consequence of rejecting God,
for there are people in this world for whom spiritual torment is less
painful than a mosquito bite. Mockers are more likely to regret their
mistake when the feel their flesh melting from their bones.
Hell was not part of God's plan, but He was forced to create it because
people refuse to live for the purpose for which they were made - which
is to worship God and love their neighbors.
You don't have to go to Hell if you don't want to. Jesus is the way - and the only way - to escape it.
Q: Isn't it grossly arrogant for Christ to claim that He is the only way to know God and get into Heaven?
A: No it isn't. It's the truth (John 6:51, John 12:46-48, John 14:6).
However, for your benefit, I will argue this point with you. Atheists
claim quite authoritatively that there is no God. In that case, they
are arrogant for making a claim with a lack of evidence. That's just
one example of exclusivity, which is common to all religions. If a
religion didn't have dogmas, it would have no definition, no identity,
and no purpose. It would advocate a lazy 'spirituality' that has
nothing good to say and no motivation for its believers.
Truth by nature is exclusive. To quote Ravi Zacharias, "if truth does
not exclude, then no assertion of truth is being made; it's just an
opinion that's being stated".
Jesus' resurrection, attested to hundreds of Christians just a few
years after His ascension, is well documented. This certainly proves
that He was telling the truth. All other religions, except Orthodox
Judaism, have beliefs that run contrary to one of Christ's teachings.
Has Buddha ever raised himself from the dead? Or Carl Sagan, for that
matter?
Only the teachings of Jesus are coherent and correspond to reality.
Other religions fail those tests. Buddhism is atheistic, but without
God, how do they explain where moral laws come from, when human
opinions on right and wrong are so varied? Reincarnation and karma in
Hinduism conflict - if every life pays the consequence for the previous
life, what sins does a man pay for in his first life?
Christ says that we are not identical to God, which explains why we
have a moral reference - God's Word. Christ says that human beings
rejected this code of moral conduct in search of something less
demanding, which is proved by the rebellious nature of unregenerate
human spirits. Christ offers us meaning by telling us that we must love
God with all our heart, soul, and mind. Christ proves His divinity by
His resurrection. What other religion can claim these things?
The Bible is not a collection of mystic ramblings. It contains many
historic truths. It contains many prophecies that were confirmed
hundreds of years after the deaths of the Jews proclaiming them. What
other sacred text offers truths that can be proven by archeological
evidence?
The world's faith systems are NOT equally valid. The idea of a morally
superior and perfectly holy but all-loving primal spirit being
fathering the human race is alien to most non-Christian religions. How
can atheism, which refutes the existence of God, be equated with Wicca,
which has two gods?
The way a person lives is a product of what he believes. But morality
isn't the reason for life. Life is about being coming alive to God.
Anyone who works for his own righteousness instead of relying on Jesus
is ultimately saying that he is his own redeemer, which means he makes
himself equivalent to God, which is the sin of pride. The worst sin you
can commit is to decide that you don't need God.
Q: How can God condemn heathens who've never heard of Jesus?
A: God would never condemn a man who's never had a chance to hear about
Jesus. But God has placed every human being on earth with care, for He
has a plan for each of us. It doesn't matter where you are born or when
you lived - God was and always is available for us in case of help, and
He has placed enough clues to get us started on our quest for Him. All
it would take is for one of these ancient heathens to fall to his knees
and cry out "God help me", and God would come to his rescue. How do you
think Abraham, a Mesopotamian from Ur, heard about God in the first
place? Abraham most likely cried out for help, God rescued him, and
later taught Abraham gradually about Himself.
What's true for Abraham is true for every non-Christian in the darkness
of pre-Christian earth and even today. God will show Himself to anyone
who genuinely seeks Him. If necessary, God can appear in a vision to
someone who wants to find Him.
Also, the very natural world around us gives testimony to God's existence. Human conscience also is a witness to
God's existence, for where else did we learn what is right or wrong?
Q: Why did the Jews sacrifice so many animals?
A: To blot out specific sins, of course, and to undefile certain places
and objects (defiled by sin that is). You must understand that sin
requires that somebody dies (Romans 6:23). God ordained that the death
of animals could take the place of human lives, so every time a Hebrew
committed a sin, he had to bring an animal to the priests so they could
kill it ritually. It seems barbaric, but it was a temporary solution to
the problem of sin. God then sent His son Jesus to die on the cross so
His blood could eradicate all sin from all men who would accept that
sacrifice. Thanks to Jesus, we no longer need to kill an animal to
atone for sin.
Q: Prove to me that Jesus was a real person.
A: I'm no scholar, but I'll give this my best shot. The Gospels are not
propaganda, but actual accounts of Jesus' life. Within two years of
Christ's temporary death so many Christians already believed in the
Resurrection and Christ's divinity that the events in the Gospels have
to be real, because there wasn't enough time for a myth to develop. The
martyrdom of many Christians under Nero and other Roman emperors is
significant - not even fools give their lives away for a lie. These
martyrs believed in the reality of Christ with such a burning
dedication rarely seen in the West today.
My next point is that the Gospels have to be true because they were
written when witnesses to Jesus' acts were alive to disprove any
purported lies in the Gospels. They are trustworthy records because
they agree on basic facts while diversifying their tales with little
details. Since the Gospel authors were so careful about recording
historical details, they would be especially careful to record facts
about Jesus correctly. Also, the modern New Testament is 99.5% free of
discrepancies between them and the myriad of ancient New Testament
documents.
There are many extrabiblical sources which confirm Jesus' existence.
There are some 39 documents which prove about 100 teachings and acts of
Jesus. The idea that Jesus is a mythical God buckles under the mountain
of evidence from Roman scholars.
Q: Prove to me that Jesus really is God.
A: Jesus certainly claims to be divine, but in His case it is the
"Gospel Truth". He wasn't crazy because He had amazing perception about
social behavior, formed deep friendships, and was exceedingly
brilliant; most crazy people don't have the ability to make friends. He
backs up His claim to be God with His miracles and His undefamable
character. Also, only Jesus fulfills the dozens of Old Testament
prophecies concerning a Messiah against ludicrous odds. Read the Bible
and look for these prophecies, then check them against what you read in
the New Testament.
Q: Prove to me that Jesus actually did die and rose again.
A: No man, not even Jesus, could survive the crucifixion. Even before
He was nailed to the cross, the flogging He received had put Him in
shock and brought Him close to dying. He could not have pretended to be
dead because that Roman soldier shoved a spear into his chest. So no,
Jesus didn't simply pass out. Besides, it wouldn't make sense for Jesus
to fake His own death.
Christ's empty grave was recorded in the earliest New Testament
Scriptures. Not only that, but the Gospels recorded that it was his
women friends who discovered the empty tomb. That adds credibility to
the story since women in Jewish society weren't considered reliable
witnesses. Thus, the authors had to be telling the truth, because they
trusted the events to be real enough that the nature of their witnesses
would not detract from their authenticity.
Jesus' tomb was well known to early Christians, Jews, and Romans alike,
so anyone from these three groups could check the tomb themselves if
they doubted the Resurrection. In fact, the Jewish and Roman leaders
never bothered to state that Jesus' body was still in the tomb but
rather invented the lie that His disciples sneaked His body away and
claimed that He had been raised to life.
The fact that Jesus rose again was beloved in from the very start of
the Christian church, so it could not have been myth - the early
Christians had plenty of opportunity to corroborate their beliefs with
evidence. Paul mentions several witnesses by name in 1 Corinthians 15
and dares nonbelievers in that day to challenge their belief.
Thousands of Jews accepted Jesus as their Lord within weeks of the
Crucifixion, abandoned many religious practices no longer needed under
the New Covenant, and risked persecution. Even skeptics like Paul were
converted, and many Christians went to their graves professing Christ's
death and Resurrection. How could all that be possible unless Jesus
really did rise from the dead?
Q: Why did Jesus die on the cross?
A: To pay the penalty for your sins so you don't have to suffer
the punishment for them. Jesus' holy blood poured out on the cross has
cleansed you from your innate need to sin so that you are free to live
a life dedicated to God. Not only has He blasted all those sins away
and made you capable of true goodness, He has also nailed all your
sicknesses and fears to the cross as well. Sickness, fear, and poverty
have no right to wreck your life once you become a Christian (although
sometimes even the best Christians face these troubles).
Some people have such a hard time believing that Jesus died to abolish
their sins because they want to do all the work themselves or they want
to live life the way they feel is right. Don't be one of those people.
Q: I can't read the Bible! It's too hard to understand! Who can help me?
A: I suggest reading the New Testament first. It will explain to you the core teachings of the Christian faith.
Also, I recommend that you read some good Christian literature, like
that available from Harrison House or RHEMA, and that you find an
experienced Christian friend to answer any specific questions you have.
There should be a store somewhere in your neighborhood that sells
Christian books and paraphernalia.
Don't give up on reading the Bible. Every hour you spend studying it will be worth it.
Q: Why do some Christians pray in an unknown language? It sounds weird.
A: It's not weird. It is essential to all Christians to pray in an
unknown language because by doing so, the Christian submits his speech
- the hardest thing for a human to control - to the Holy Spirit. The
Holy Spirit is then free to use the Christian's voice to say what He
needs to say - and that includes praise, revelation, edification,
solving problems, and healing.
Speaking in an unknown language teaches the Christian to obey the Holy
Spirit and builds up his faith. Also, the Christian prays without
making any mistakes that would ruin prayers spoken in his native
language. The Christian learns to trust the Holy Spirit, and prepares
him for hearing the Holy Spirit clearly and obeying Him unerringly
during critical moments, such as an exorcism.
Q: I have an incurable illness. Where is God in my misery?
A: It is very difficult to sense the Divine Presence when we are ill
and feel emotionally and spiritually drained, but I know for a fact
that God sympathizes with our pains. You may feel abandoned, but
feelings are not facts. God shares in your despair right now, and He is
concerned about you. Just because He is waiting for the right time to
heal you doesn't mean that He has abandoned you.
I can sympathize with you because I too have an incurable and very
crippling illness (Schizotypal Personality Disorder). This illness is
one of many sources of anger in my life because it is an invisible
illness that robs me of social contacts and emotional maturity. Still,
I manage to retain a grip on my faith in Jesus.
God never changes because He is perfect, so be aware that He can and
will heal you as much as Jesus could and would heal all those sick
people in the Bible. I have no answer as to why God is waiting to heal
you. Maybe He needs you to experience the illness fully so you can
better sympathize with other people who are sick and thus minister more
effectively to them. Maybe He wants you to learn patience. I don't
really know, but be informed that whatever the reason is, God can heal
you, so don't be afraid to pester Him about it.
Q: Can a Christian listen to heavy metal music?
A: Some people say that the melodies and rhythms of popular music are
rotten, but I believe that it is the lyrics that matter. Personally, I
think that heavy metal and industrial music tunes are safe if the
lyrics aren't blasphemous, glorify satan or his demons, or promote
criminal or immoral activity.
Still, I advise you to limit the amount of secular music you listen to.
Get a taste for Christian music and listen to that instead of popular
music at regular intervals, so that your mind can train and heal itself
while you are working, traveling, or relaxing. This will fortify your
mind and emotions quicker than if you didn't listen to Christian music.
Q: My father is an a******. Why should I honor him?
A: If your father tells you to do something bad, don't do it. But you
should still show him respect and pray for him. Most parents will try
to tell their children what is right - or at least, THEY USED TO. There
will be times when a parent must discipline his child to prevent him
from engaging in dangerous behavior. God likewise disciplines us, but
less harshly.
In this age of broken families, parents may care less about their
children than they are supposed to. But that still doesn't free you
from respecting your father and showing him love. Remember, as a
Christian you are required to love everyone selflessly, no matter how
hard it is.
I suggest that you pray to Jesus for the strength to forgive your
father, then pray that your father discovers Jesus and follows Him.
Q: Why doesn't God work miracles anymore?
A: Actually you're wrong. Go to any Full-Gospel or Pentecostal church
during the special services (Men's Prayer, Prayer and Praise, etc) and
you will find the Holy Spirit leading the service towards miraculous
healings. I have personally experienced the Holy Spirit's healing power.
Follow the adventures of evangelists in the Third World and you'll find
that miracles happen all the time when they have a service. The reason
that Reinhard Bonnke and other leading missionaries have these
experiences is because their audiences are impoverished. They have few
material possessions to comfort them and next to nothing for medical
care, so they NEED miracles and greedily expect them. This hunger for
the supernatural is exactly the kind of atmosphere that suits the Holy
Spirit best.
Q: How does the Word of God work in a Christian's life? I don't get this concept at all.
A: The Word of God is the simple, truthful, and unwavering statutes and
promises of God Himself delivered to the Bible authors via the Holy
Spirit. It is also another name for Jesus.
Without being read and acted upon, the Word of God is inert, but once a
believer puts these altruisms into his heart, they change his ways of
thinking, increase his capacity for faith, and improve his life.
To make the Word of God potent in your life requires meditation on it.
Start with a few verses and personalize them - they apply to every
Christian. Read them aloud and consider how they apply to you, how to
put them into action, and what barriers need to be removed before they
can be completed in you.
This allows the thoughts of God to dominate those which are causing you
trouble. You may need to repeat the verses hundreds or even thousands
of times before they come alive in you, so don't give up.
Discover when your mind is most active and your willpower the
strongest. Make that your meditation time and spend at least an hour
repeating the Word of God to yourself. Some people eventually manage to
meditate continually throughout the day - these people may not
necessarily repeat the Word audibly, but they do THINK about Jesus all
day.
Meditation is necessary and will result in many blessings for you if
you do it day and night (Joshua 1:8). The blessings come not only from
obeying God, but also from freeing your mind from sinful thoughts (and
thus removing yourself from activities that may get you in trouble).
Q: Are angels real? I think they're silly!
A: Yes, angels are real, and no, they're not silly. Actually, they're
quite powerful and awesomely frightening. The purpose of an angel is to
protect a chosen Christian from harm, and a Christian can have many
angels guarding him.
Forget the stereotype angels with wings, halos, and harps. The angels
of the Bible actually resembled youthful humans in shining white robes,
or they could disguise themselves as ordinary men.
Q: What is the Rapture?
A: The Rapture is the event when Jesus appears in the air to call His
Church to him and follow Him to Heaven. This is not the Second Coming,
when Jesus returns to defeat the antichrist. The Rapture happens prior
to the rise of the antichrist and the battle of Armageddon.
Jesus will gather His church for two reasons. First, the presence of
His Church, the preserving Salt of the earth, is preventing the devil
from taking total control of the world. Satan must be allowed his
apparent victory before God will stomp on him. Second, God doesn't want
His Church to be present on earth when He punishes all the wicked. God
always takes the righteous away from whichever place He is punishing so
that they will escape harm.
The Rapture will have two phases. First, Jesus will instantly resurrect
all the deceased Christians, give them new indestructible bodies, and
call them to Him. They will zip up into the air to meet Jesus. Second,
the Christians who are still alive will be likewise transformed, made
immortal, and called to speed up into the sky to be with Jesus.
Finally, Jesus will lead us all to Heaven, wherever that may be.
Q: What is Armageddon?
A: Armageddon is the final battle on earth before the Second Advent of
Christ. It is named after the mountain of Megiddo (Har - Mountain,
Megiddo - an ancient town in that region that saw a lot of wars because
of its strategic position) in Israel where the battle is to take place.
There the antichrist and his army will engage the rulers of Asia and
their formidable force of two hundred million soldiers in a bloody
battle before they both lay siege to Jerusalem.
However, Jesus will appear in the sky with tens of thousands of saints
and angels to kill all the evildoers and cleanse the earth of
wickedness. Then Jesus will rule the earth with His saints for ten
thousand years.
Q: Who is the antichrist?
A: John in his letters to the early church mentions that there are many
antichrists - deceitful clerics and rulers who teach people to reject
Jesus and embrace a philosophy of sin - but that there will be a final
antichrist who will rule the world for seven years before being
annihilated by the returning Christ.
This antichrist will claim to be the Messiah, so he will have to be of
Jewish descent to fulfill some of the prophecies about Jesus and
deceive even the Jewish people. However, 144000 Jews will discern his
lies and become witnesses to Jesus that will try to save as many people
as they can from eternal damnation.
The man of sin is prophesied to be the leader of a reborn Roman empire
- a position that only the new European Union fulfills. He will make a
peace treaty with the Jews at the beginning of his reign, but halfway
through it, he will break that treaty by invading the rebuilt Temple
and defiling it by claiming that he is God and demanding that everyone
worship him. To help him in that claim will be a false prophet
(claiming to be Elijah) who will perform miracles whenever he is within
sight of the antichrist. Both the antichrist and the false prophet are
said to be very learned in the occult and perhaps satanists.
During the first three and a half years of the antichrist's reign,
heathen religion and heavy drug use will be endorsed, but once the
antichrist proclaims to be God, he will abolish all pagan religions
because they compete with direct worship of himself.
The antichrist will command all inhabitants of the earth to receive a
mark (this could be a microchip, an occult tattoo, or simply the
observance of Sunday as the day of rest instead of Saturday) before
they can retain a job or buy or sell anything.
The 'number of the beast' is a warning in the Book of Revelation to
Christians in the last days. In the Greek and Aramaic languages, every
letter has a numeric value. If the antichrist's name is converted to
Greek, then the numbers of his name would total to 666.
It hardly surprises me that rebellious young people hooked on drugs and
the occult would ignorantly use the number 666 as a sign of oppression
against Christians without knowing the story behind the number. If they
did, then maybe they would be more reverent towards Jesus. The number
666 is about as deep an insult to Christians as a swastika is to Jews.
Don't ever use it in correspondence with me. Ever.
Q: What is the Millennium?
A: The Millennium is the thousand-year reign of Jesus of Nazareth upon
the earth. The devil will be imprisoned during the entire period while
Jesus is free to bless, comfort, and discipline the human race. Since
God Incarnate will be present on earth, the earth will experience total
peace.
After the thousand years are over, the devil will be released to tempt those born during the
Millennium. Sadly, many of them will choose to rebel against Jesus and will perish.
Q: How do I learn to forgive people?
A: Forgiveness is so essential to Christian life that I've discussed
that topic in another section. Click on the forgiveness link on the
left.
Q: Its too hard to practice self-denial! How do you manage?
A: The Holy Spirit gives me the strength to toss out things that
compete with His voice. Also, the Holy Spirit takes me one step at a
time. When you first get Born Again, you will not only feel peace and
relief, you will also be motivated to rid yourself of unholy things.
Your indignation will be focused on the most recognizably unholy things
first, such as pornography, and lesser things will be initially
ignored. This is your first test. Once you have passed it, the Holy
Spirit will give you another test, showing you something else that
needs to be eliminated from your life. As you listen to the Holy Spirit
and toss out the junk, you increase in strength and faith because of
your obedience.
Don't be afraid of being
purified and maturing spiritually. Embrace it, for developing a
holy lifestyle will bring you into clearer communion with God and give
you access to supernatural power along with it. Holiness is
exciting and necessary. Don't look at it as a sacrifice but as dropping
weights so you can rise higher towards Heaven.
